Bloom where you are planted
The Lord is my shepherd (my guide)
I have no needs because He takes care of me
He MAKES ME lie down in green pastures
He leads me beside the still water
He restores my soul.
Have you heard the saying “The grass is greener on the other side of the fence”? Things must be better in another job, another love relationship, another town. We all suffer the desire to escape and go eat the grass on the other side of the fence.
Most of the time the Good Shepherd tells us the grass is green where we are. If we go to the other field, the grass probably is not as good as it looks, and the Good Shepherd will not guide us to the best spots.
There will always be imperfections in this sinful world, but we have a guide who directs our paths of righteousness. He snags us back from going over dangerous cliffs with His staff. He prods us forward with His rod. We don’t always like these instruments of righteousness, but ultimately we have peace and comfort because of them.
You are here now. Bloom where you are planted.

Ba-ah-ah.
I have not eaten grass since I was a kid (pun).
I know what you are saying. This kind of reminds me of what I stated in my blog concerning the spiritual gifts we have. And, yes, we are guided by the "Good Shepherd".
Love, husband.
Alright, Husband, dear,
You are funny, cute, and such a sweet LAMB!!

Having been to quite a few places in the world, at least in North America and Western Europe, I think the Lord has blessed me with a good area to live in for most of life as in Greater Vancouver. I certainly prefer Greater Vancouver to Greater Manchester, having lived in both. In that sense I relate to the idea of the grass not always being greener on the other side. Sometimes where one lives is the better place.

Yes, the Lord has done this much for me...thankfully. I have been saved from many mistakes.
Have a good week, Vicki and Jim.

Thank you Vicki for reminding me that God does take care of me and restores my soul, which only He can do. Have a great week.
Hello Vicki,
Yep! been known to wonder some, but because my good Shepherd does love me He has always pulled me back to Himself and in the pastures He has prepared for me!
I need the pulling and prodding it does me good :)
Nice to hear from you, Tamela. I hope all is well with your family.
Great post Vicki! I think sometimes that because we live in a "throwaway" society, we have come to believe that there's always something "better" to be had. Even if nothing's wrong with what we have, we still want the latest and greatest - be it things, relationships, jobs...
I know quite a few people like that. Sadly, my daughter is one of them. I am convinced that if that is your personality, you will forever be chasing that next "whatever." And you will miss out on the happiness of "here and now."
All the while, our Good Shepard is standing by, sadly watching...
